M. Even more settings and functions

...and here are the remaining settings and functions that do not fit under one of the other headings, especially from the setup menu.

More functions from the setup menu

Image sensor cleaning

The setup menu Clean image sensor lets the image sensor vibrate briefly to shake off dust in the truest sense of the word. This works best when it is standing upright.

It's worth a try if you find little specks in the same place over and over again on your pictures. However, it is doubtful whether cleaning will do any good, because the D7000 is preset to start it every time it is switched on and off.

If the menu does not help, the only option is conventional cleaning directly on the sensor. You can do this at Nikon, at your local specialist shop or carefully yourself if you know what you are doing.

You can also set whether the D7000 should automatically shake its sensor briefly every time it is switched on and/or off. I leave the default setting, it can't hurt.

Lock mirror up for cleaning

This setup menu is for maintenance purposes only. It folds up the mirror and after removing the lens you can look directly at the sensitive image sensor. Only when the camera is switched off does the mirror fold back again.

If the battery is not sufficiently charged, the menu cannot be opened.

Time zone and date

Setting the date & time, time zone and summer/winter time.

For the semi-annual time change, it is sufficient to set the summer time to on or off here, and the time jumps forward or back by one hour accordingly.

Language

Choose the language for all camera menus here.

Image dust off reference photo

Allows to create a reference image for removing dust in Nikon's Capture software.

Battery info

Shows information about the battery status.

Wireless transmitter

Settings for wireless connection to a network, if you connect an additional WiFi adapter.

Save/load settings

Allows you to save and load all current menu settings to/from the memory card.

GPS

Controls when a connected separate GPS receiver switches off and allows the current longitude and latitude to be read out.

Non-CPU lens data

If you are using older lenses without CPU on your D7000, you can tell the camera the lens data (focal length and largest aperture). Then you can also use the matrix metering with these lenses and the Nikon flashes will adapt to the angle of view.

Firmware-Version

Shows the version number of the camera's internal software, it has three components. The camera software has been stable for a long time, the last version numbers are the A 1.04 / B 1.05 already released in 2014.

The third value, preceded by an L, is for distortion correction data and can be updated with current lenses from time to time. At the time of writing in June 2021, version 2.018 of January 2020 is the latest. Details and instructions on how to update can be found directly on Nikon's web site

Eye-Fi transmission

Enables wireless transfer from the memory card to a computer or other device, provided an Eye-Fi memory card is inserted. These are memory cards with an integrated WiFi chip.

The menu only appears if such a card is inserted.

More features from other menus

Copy images across memory cards | This playback menu allows you to copy images back and forth between memory cards, provided you have two inserted. Follow the instructions on the monitor, the procedure is self-explanatory.

Print set (DPOF) | Creates a file on the memory card for making paper prints.

d13 MB-D11 Battery type | The custom settings menu d13 tells the D7000 which batteries you are using in the additional MB-D11 handgrip.

d14 Battery order | Sets the order in which batteries in the camera housing and in the additional handle MB-D11 are discharged.
